Purpose:
The purpose of the Civil Discourse Advisory Group is to develop a unified vision of civil discourse across the FAS and to advise on strategic interventions to support these efforts. Through these coordinated actions, the Advisory Group aims to embed civil discourse within the campus culture, promoting a respectful and inclusive environment for meaningful dialogue across differences.

Purpose:
The purpose of the Generative AI Faculty Advisory Committee is to explore the potential as well as drawbacks of using Generative AI in our teaching and research in the FAS, including SEAS. This group will provide expert guidance to the Dean's Senior Advisor on AI, ensuring the informed implementation of AI technologies in teaching, research, and administrative functions, positioning FAS as a leader in AI applications in higher education.

Purpose:
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) has made important progress in sustaining research continuity during a period of significant disruption. The Research Continuity Funding (RCF) program, established in July 2025, has played a critical role in ensuring that faculty could continue their research following the mass termination of federal grants.
The second phase of this committee will review the current program, recommend the scope and priorities for continuity funding beyond FY2026, and outline a vision for long-term research funding and fundraising strategy, in partnership with the Divisional Deans for Science and Social Science and Dean for FAS Development.

Purpose:
The Faculty Resources Committee serves as a vital advisory body to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, advising the dean and other senior FAS leaders on the implications of the financial landscape, providing guidance on strategies to apply our resources to preserve and strengthen our core academic and research excellence, and to serve as a conduit for helping the broader faculty understand strategic financial decisions and trade-offs.

Purpose:
To ensure that the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) has the resources necessary to invest in our research and teaching mission, it is essential that we identify opportunities to increase collaboration, integration, and overall productivity across our administrative workforce.
The Task Force on Workforce Planning will conduct a thorough review of the policies, business processes, systems, and staffing within the FAS. While the resulting recommendations may include proposals for staff reorganizations or reductions, the primary objective is to strengthen our ability to support faculty, researchers, students, and staff more effectively and efficiently. The task force will benefit from broad engagement across the FAS community, including faculty, researchers, and staff, through all stages of the process, in carrying out its charge.
